Gunnery Range Tours

No current dates scheduled (July 11th tour changed to 'All Access' base tour)

Please join us for a rare opportunity to the Gunnery range at the Historic Wendover Airfield.  You will be guided by museum staff as you visit this unique training ground.  Be sure to bring your camera, sunglasses and good walking shoes!

Cost is $45 per person.  Please meet at John T. Brinkman Service Club just north of the base control tower.  Please arrive no later than 9:45am as the tour will begin promptly at 10:00am. Tour will last approximately 3.5 hours.  Bottled water and some light snacks will be provided during the tour.  After returning to the museum, a light lunch of bagels, fruit and drinks will be provided.

Things you can expect to see on this tour:

  • Foundations for the gun emplacements
  • Foundations for the support buildings for the gunnery range
  • Protective berms for the target jeeps
  • Jeep tracks for the target carrying jeeps
  • The site / remains of the "Tokyo Trolley" gun training railroad car

We will need several additional high clearance 4x4 vehicles to take our guest on the tour, if you are able to bring one.  ATVs and side-by-sides are not allowed.  Both drivers and passengers will need to sign waivers for the trip.  This is not handicap accessible, although limited ability persons could get some good views from a vehicle.
